Rolling Stones Magazine, the king of all music and music culture magazines since 1967. Rolling Stones magazines are packed from the first page to the last with everything any music junkie could ever want to know about the most recent music news. Since its first published copy the Rolling Stone magazine has been on the best selling stands with its very well known cover page. The cover page has featured every major musician from John Lennon to Lil Wayne as well as a comedian or actor here and there. I believe it is such a recognizable cover that has made Rolling Stone the popular magazine it is today. The publishers use these musical icons on their covers to gain the attention of potential buyers. These big names on the cover can be considered symbols and they areput there based on what is popular in the present. In powertool terms Rolling Stone magazines uses beautiful people and symbols on their covers to attract buyers, which if used correctly will never fail them. The people of the world will forever be interested in music news, because really who doesn’t want to get behind the scenes of a rock stars life or hear what their favorite artist has to say about politics.
What makes Rolling Stone unique is that it covers such a wide variety of music. This variety covers all genres of music, which can be its cause of success, by not limiting itself to just one style of music such as some magazines like Vibe or XXL, which limit themselves to only fans of hip-hop. Rolling Stone has covered every story in almost every genre of music for decades writing reviews, stories and interviews that use the basic principle of “Value Messages”. Being such a popular magazine the value messages have a somewhat drastic effect on musician’s. Perhaps not as much now a day but before the days of youtube and iTunes where we can listen to any song at anytime people could read reviews on albums and tours and obviously a negative review led to negative results for that particular artist.
Rolling Stone will always be one of the greatest music magazines of all time, it tells all that anyone could ever want to know about music.
Conor,
ReplyDeleteGood blogging this semester!
You have covered some ground here - despite being a bit short on followers, and a bit skinny, in terms of your analysis with power tools, with some of your posts.
I hope you will continue blogging, and enjoy your summer!

ReplyDeleteDo a bit more with power tools - your use of Web 2.0 tools is quite good. Thanks for the embeds, photos, and video.
Gotta look at the Bob Dylan concert footage in China...
